I wouldn't say futuristic, but rather modern, like they're trying to aim at an other group of people, who were first charmed by the progressive looks of a BMW 7 or maybe even the Audi A8, and now can choose between another dynamic looking limo...
It looks like they are trying to throw away their image of "reliable and boring, for the retired rich" to "reliable and for the dynamic rich", not a bad thing, 'cause those who are used to buy an S-class, will not swap to another brand, they could only attract more buyers...
