Triple Eight Race Engineering makes history with four wins in one week-end, 12,000 miles apart
Release Date: 28/07/2005
July 24 will certainly be a date to commemorate for Triple Eight Race Engineering, with simultaneous victories on both sides of the globe.

Drivers Yvan Muller and Colin Turkington shared victories in all three races during the Mondello Park round of the British Touring Car Championship, while Craig Lowndes steered the Australian sister team to top spot in Australia at the Queensland 300 – round 7 of V8 Supercar Championship.

Arriving at Mondello on a high following a pair of one-two finishes at the previous round of the BTCC, Triple Eight Race Engineering UK dominated the weekend with two wins for Yvan and one for Colin thereby bringing Yvan back into contention for the Drivers Championship.

Whilst the action was taking place 20,000kms away, Triple Eight Race Engineering Australia, was already busy celebrating the victory in Queensland. In a true team effort Craig gained the lead through a lightning quick pit stop and was never challenged for the remainder of the 90 lap race, giving him his second Round win of the season.

Team Principals Roland Dane (Triple Eight, Australia) and Ian Harrison (Triple Eight, UK) were elated with the day’s results, a fitting tribute to both team work and the engineering skills of the company.

“It is immensely pleasing to see how the organisation that we started – along with Derek Warwick - almost ten years ago has grown to produce such strong engineering based results” Dane said.

“It is indeed satisfying, and I suspect, unique, that Triple Eight can win prestigious Touring Car races on the same day at opposite ends of the planet! I am really proud of the efforts of all Triple Eight personnel and am looking forward to repeat performances in the future!” Harrison added.

Although the respective championship calendars will not allow for a repeat joint clean sweep on both continents this season, both teams will nonetheless be hoping to celebrate another shared success when regular Triple Eight UK BTCC driver Yvan Muller joins Triple Eight Australia for the Sandown and Bathurst enduro races later this year.
