believes automakers could mass-produce them by adding just $6,000 to each vehicle's price tag.

That means nobody will have to hurt their corneas by (even accidentaly) seeing a Toyota Prius. It would be deemed inifficent and outdated.

this is not a good solution since most electricity is still produced using un-good methods.

It looks like a typical Toyota Prius hybrid...
IMO the second gen prius is a good looking car. its simple, aerodynamic and has a useful hatch

    Woah, this sounds awesome.

I can't wait for some idiot to come along, miss the point, and say "meh, I'll take an M3".

M3? Hell no, I want an Enzo!

Anyway, the point is, you don't have to apply this technology to such an awkward car as the Prius. You can apply it to almost any body you want, so (hopefully) soon the Prius won't be 'the cutting edge.'

It's way easier to convert a car which is already a hybrid. In fact, it's probably cheaper overall to do that and make a custom body for the car than it is to create an entirely new system for a non-hybrid car. You really need to get over the aesthetics of the Prius, because its really pretty far beyond the point.

^ of course, but in the near future the Prius won't be the only big (as big I mean popular) hybrid car. And the aesthetics will have plenty to do because, with this new technology, an enviromentally friendly car can be coupled with decent looks and sales can take off even beyond that of the burrent Prius.

I personally don't find the new one ugly at all. Again, I think if it was the new Corolla or something, nobody would make such a big deal about how it looks.

Anyways, a massive waiting list on the current Prius makes it seem like you're one of few who actually thinks this makes much of a difference.

    Cheers

The thing is, since it's the best hybrid on the market yet, it's got the biggest waiting list. Make one equally as good, but better looking, and you steal a lot of thunder.

i reckon the main reason the prius is so popular is people who want the image of being all green and environmentally concious, and people who believe they will besaiving heaps of money. I mean, i can't tell the difference between a normal civic and a hybrid one, and it takes 2-3 years to start saving money on prius, bcause it is so much more expensive than other cars in its class. Give it a couple of years and obvious hybrids like the prius will die out and hybrid will just be a box you can tick on the order form
