    Go Kart

Ok so my dads agreeed to build a go-kart with me apart from the frame since he can't be stuffed welding one So I need some advice on what sorta engine e.g 2 stroke, 4 stroke, etc, wheel sizes, and yeah just any advice or experience anyone has with kart building.

Its not gunna be one of those great big karts and from what i've seen i'll be able to afford about a 5hp motor max.

I saw some go kart tyres for 15 dollars each(NZ currency) complete with 4 inch rims and those seemed like good ones to go for.

Yep and i've heard good things about their engines. I'll try for one, but I saw a good 4hp 4 stroke Honda motor for cheap as, would that be good aswell? as far as I know Honda are pretty reliable and well reputed in the mower market aswell.

i saw some completely badass prebuilt buggy with a subaru engine at sears or something... pretty sure they wanted something slightlyless (but not so slight...ly) outragous as 150 grand for it though.

go 2 stroke...wont flood if you turn it upside down, wont seize if you never change the oil or never top up the oil and are generally more powerful per cc compared to 4 stroke. you'll probably pay alot more though for one

my friend used to drive a go-kart he was one class down on Tiago Monteiro and Kimi Raikonnen.afer a short trip into forlmula ford he had to stop (no sponsors).

i have been with him to the track a few times.i drove his racing cart a few times.the thing ran 140 km/h with your ass just 4 cm off the tarmac it was great fun, but very difficult

these racing go-karts are all 2-stroke, and chain driven. they brake on the rear axle, with a single disk.

Usually the racing ones over here are 4 stroke alcohol. They usually top out at 100mph

Please buy a Briggs and Stratton motor. Maybe they won't demolish another one of their historic factories here in Milwaukee.

gow ith a 4 stroke, more torque, and also probabl 8" rims with (well depending how rugged your farm is) maybe 15" knobby's...? ive had 2 dirt bikes and my cousins have some nice go karts so how much do you weight? in something this light it will make a big difference in how much fun you can have with 5hp

edit: go briggs and straton, very nice engines, see if you can stretch for 10hp, it'd be one hell of a good time, maybe get the money for the 5hp upgrade for a bday?
