Ok then, here is the new Volga, now called GAZ Siber. Presented today on Moscow autoshow (though actually it's just a rebadged Chrysler Sebring). Engines should be 2.0 (141hp), 2.4 and 2.7. Production starts on March, 2008, promised price - $18000.

    Trekol 39294 (6x6).

Trekol company produced its first cars in 1996. Those were 4- and 6-wheels swimming AWD cars using unique tubeless tyres of a very low pressure. These tyres allow the all-roaders to not to sink in sand, marsh and snow even fully loaded. They are also ecological, as they cause no damage to environment - they leave no rut and don't injure soil (the pressure to a soil is about 0,1 - 0,4 kilos at square centimeter). Most of there cars are road legal. The 39294 is fiberglass bodied, but it can withstand the temperature from -60 to +60.

    Specs:

    Weight: 2300kg.
Engine: ZMZ-4021.10 (optionally - Andoria diesel).
    Engine power: 90hp.
    Gearbox: mechanical, 4.
    Fuel charge (at 50 km/h): 17l/100km.
    Fuel tank: 100l.
    Seats: 8.
Max. speed: 80 (on the road), 10 (on the water with additional engine).

Pics by me. Sorry, not excellent.

    Derways 3131 Cowboy.

Based in Cherkessk, the Derways company started its business in 2002. The first car - Cowboy - was developed in 2003 with the help of Avtovaz specialists using foreign parts. The frame chassis is from Romanian ARO 244, but with the original front independent(?) suspension. Engines are ZMZ-514.10 (2230cc, 98hp, 216Nm), ZMZ-409.10 (2700cc, 105hp, 230Nm) and Peugeot DW10TD (2000cc, 90hp, 205Nm). Transmission is Romanian, too. A pickup version was also planned to develop... But the company has turned to producing Chinese cars under the own name (only the latest 'entrant' - Lifan - is producend as Lifan).

    Pic by me also.

    1967 Moskvich 408

Im new to all this computor stuff so hope im posting this correctly, anyone know where I could get a new old stock or really good condition rear bumper for a 1967 Moskvich 408?
The car was imported from Hungry in lovely condition & totaly rust free but the transportation company damaged the rear end :-(
Less important but does anyone know where I would find wheel trims & service items for the car?
I still have the original rust free bumper and wonder if it could be straightened out and re chromed but it is made of extreamly sturdy metal.
Im not sure but think that the re designed later cars (1969 onwards) had different bumpers, anyone know for sure?
The picture of the car was taken before the damage.

    welcome to UCP.
The Moskvitch was imported in Western Europe, and sold under the name Scaldia. The importer/distributor was based in Belgium (Scaldia is the Latin name for the river Scheldt, floating past Antwerp). I don't know what the company was and what became of it, but Belgium might be the best source for parts if you don;t want to go to the former Eastern Block countries again. Russia will have plenty stuff available.

Up here in Scotland I find it difficult to get specialists who are interested in older cars, if I could get the bumper straightened out there would be companys in England who could do the re chroming, this of course is expensive but the transportation company who caused the damage can pay the bill.
Another question I have is does anyone know the engine size of a 408? Is it the same as the later 412 & would any parts be interchangable.
All the paperwork is in Hungarian & I sadly dont speak the language... ...Oh the joys of classic motoring, it can be a headache & an expensive one at that.
Nothing like getting behind the wheel of a classic though, it makes it worthwhile!

Give Charles Palmer a call at charles-##-classicrestorations.co.uk (replace -##- with @)

He can likely advise on his preferred rechromer.

I've no personal experience of these guys .. 20th Century Classic .. but you'll find the Scottish classic car community very helpful.

Suggest get to know the folks at Grampian Transport Musem at Alford. Very helpful

PS: I deleted your first post. There's an Edit button at the bottom right of your post if you want to add/change anything. Also, if you put your location in your profile then it will speed up help in future posts Approximate is fine. Grampian is a big place

The engine is different. 408 had a 1358 cc unit, whereas 412 had a 1500 cc one. It was a new engine not a bored-out variant of the old one. There were also differences in the interior.
As for bodywork, it was the same on both models. There were no external differences afaik. In 1969 both models were facelifted, the most visible changes being the square headlights (instead of round) and horizontal taillights (instead of vertical). The car also gained 16 cm in length and the gearshift was moved to the floor.
The pre-1969 408 had an export version called 408E, which had four round headlights (the domestic version only two), additional chrome trim and high compression engine. Which version is your car?
It's not denial. I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

    Russian V8

Found this engine lying in a market in a small town in Angola. I suspect its from a military vehicle. Probably difficult to identify. Will see if I can find more images of it. Do any of you recognize it ?

Well folks yours truely with the frog intellect isn't even 100% sure if its a 408. as I said all the paperwork is in Hungarian. Our friend from Poland says it must be an export model as it has four head lights heres a couple more pictures to see if it can be identified for sure!
