As the successor to the 428 Frua Coupe AC presented the 3000ME in 1973. It was for some a bit of a disappointment as the engine was not a big capacity V8 but just a Ford Capri derived V6, which was placed in front of the rear axle, and on top of the gearbox.
Further development took a very long time and production finally started in 1979. At that time the engine produced 138 BHP and a top speed of 200 kph could be reached. The body was made of fiberglass Eventually only 82 cars were produced, and the presentation of a turbo version did not contribute very much either, as only 11 were made. There was basically not much wrong with the car, except may be timing.
Shown here is a very well restored example, shown by its proud owner at the AC club meet during the Silverstone Historics in 2005.
