Ford Anglia 105E
The last version of the Ford Anglia was presented in 1960 and was fitted with a characteristically inclined rear window, also a feature of some Mercurys and the Citroen Ami 6.
The chassis did not change very much, with a normal leaf sprung live rear axle, but the new engine turned out to be a jewel. Although a simple 1000 cc OHV design, the short stroke engine could reach very high revs and became the darling of British small sports and formula car builders. Widely known as the Kent engine, it also propelled many racing Anglias which became a well known site on the tracks and still are.
In 1962 an 1200 cc version of the car appeared (the Anglia Super) which had 53 BHP in standard trim and could reach 145 kph. When production stopped in 1967, almost 1,080,000 cars had left the factory.
Here are some racing cars and a mint, low mileage example imported from Sweden and presented at the Interclassics show in Maastricht in 2005
