I got driven in a 1974 Corvette Stingray today!

Today I was probably driven in the most amazing car. It was a 5.7 liter Corvette Stingray from 1974. It's a rare one because this is only one of the few with a km/h speed dial. The owner said he has never seen an other one with the same dial. He told me loads of other information, but I immidiatly forgot when we started driving...

Damn, that was so awsome!! The road was a bit wet and there were no other cars at all. So he thought I might liked it if he did a few powerslides... OMG!!! He put all 5.7 liter to the rear wheels. I was really speachless.

I think the one I drove today is similar to this one: http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame...hp&carnum=1434

And I didn't have a camera with me, but got some pics from his "Space" on MSN...

not to be a dick or anything and i do realize a car like that isnt somethin you see every day over there but quite frankly those year corvettes sucked!sure they had 350's in em (which isnt really amazing at all) but they were so undertuned in 74 that they had really poor power. i believe in the 5.7 cars there was 3 different tunes. 190 horse, 200, and 250. pretty pathetic. specially when contraty to popular beliefe those cars weighed a ton! not only that but their some of the ugliest vettes ever made. its not all bad tho...74 was about the last year were you could even get any decent amount of power from the factory. once 75 hit you could no longer get a big block and the top 350 had 205 horses. im sorry tho i know that came off kinda mean and i do think its cool you got to ride in one and obviousley you were impressed too...but that car just isnt anything too special...if you ask me at least

Haven't ridden in anything with more than 300bhp to many times have you? The 74 wouldn't be anything like the 427. But awesome ride none-the-less.

kid at my high school has a light blue one

no offense, but i find them ugly and slow, and a terrible macho wacho image
He came dancing across the water
    With his galleons and guns
    Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
    On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls

I have to agree with Juggs, the 74 Corvette was quite unspectacular. I test drove a used (mint) one back in college. I was not impressed.

The later (like '72 and newer) 'Vettes rode better than the older ones, but as was said, the older ones were much more powerful.
I have a road test of a '72 350 'Vette somewhere. From memory the 0-60 mph time was 8.9 seconds and the 1/4 mile was around 15.6 secs.

My first choice for a 'Vette would probably be a '66 427.
