the quattroporte is absolutely amazing in person, its a gorgeous car especially in black. You realise that after you've been up close to it. Photos do it no justice atall, the fact is that its a beatiful peice of italian engineering. You also realise that theres no contest between that and the m5 when considering a purchase. For what its built for, it beats the bimmer in almost every way.

You cannot judge a car's performance around a track by judging only numbers like weight distribution etc. These numbers show which car is LIKELY to be faster. The faster car tough is only proven on the race track.
Maybe the track is very tight and the power advantage of the M5 becomes a dsadvantage.
By the way, the E60 M5 is the last generation M5? Not sure about it....

when im on a mountain road going round a hairpin to fast, do i want to understeer of the edge or spin it off the road (and the cliff!)So, the M5 is more of a drifter than the Maserati!

I thought that the M5 would have been quicker but even if it was I would still prefer the Quattroporte. Like Cotterik said, pictures do not do it justice, it's one of the most beautiful cars in production right now imo. It sounds amazing, and I love the interior. I'm glad to see it performs well too.

I would have to drive them both to decide. I am not a big fan of the flappy F1 gearbox on the Quattroporte.
