Paco de Lucia
All his songs (spanish guitar)
I ahvent listenned to music for a while cause my soundcard has been busted for over a year now, but if I were to pick one, it'd have to be a nice heavy slow solo. By Iron Maiden or Metallica, maybe.

Chicago-Liberation
(Chicago Transit Authority)
15 minutes of pure, soulful sound, well orchestrated movements, virtuoso playing, and downright beautiful music.
Chicago-South California Purples
(Chicago IV)
The last 10 minutes of this one was improvised. And it's kick ass.
Chicago-Free Form Guitar
(Chicago Transit Authority)
An improvised solo that wasn't meant to be taped. It isn't really a song, it's a performance. Terry Kath is so mind blowing on guitar that you can't help but think 'how the **** did he do this?' (Note:There's probably 20 other great Chicago songs with notable solos, but I'd look too biased if I posted them all here. If you want me to name them, I'd be glad to)
Yes-Yours Is No Disgrace
(The Yes Album)
Steve Howe is frantic, and yet the sound comes across as beautiful and well refined. Like Chicago, there's plenty more solos worth noting.
Frank Zappa-Willie The Pimp
(Hot Rats)
Whoa. Zappa showed off his virtuosity in this one for sure, however pretentious an 8 minute solo is.
Genesis-Here Comes The Supernatural Anaesthetist
(The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway)
Steve Hackett has one of the best sounding guitars any guitarist has to offer. This solo is joyful in a satirical manner and just sounds so great.
The Who-Water (Live)
(Who's Next)
This is Pete displaying his full capability.
Led Zeppelin-In My Time Of Dying
(Physical Graffiti)
Best Zep song by far. Best Page solo by far.
The Mars Volta-Cygnus....Vismund Cygnus
(Frances The Mute)
The most of this song is too noisy for me, but there's a brilliant solo tucked into the middle.
Pink Floyd-Pigs (Three Different Ones)
(Animals)
Yay talkbox guitar!
Supertramp-Brother Where You Bound
(Brother Where You Bound)
Ironically enough, Dave Gilmour's best stuff was not with Floyd. The last two minutes of this 17 minute magnum opus is enough reason to get up, jump around and be happy to be alive.
Best Guitarists-
1-Terry Kath (Chicago)
2-Steve Howe (Yes)
3-Dave Gilmour (Pink Floyd)
4-Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
5-Jimi Hendrix

Since I've Been Loving You - Zep
does a bass solo count? if yes, i'd go with some dude that played spock's funeral song using harmonics. dunno wat's the guy's name is tho.
"The Zonda S has a deep lion's-roar baritone. The F has gone all Formula 1 on us, a hard-edged ripping shriek"
i think you're talkin about victor wooten. he played amazing grace with harmonics.
top solo's
1. dire straits - sultans of swing
2. pink floyd - comfortably numb
3. dream theater - glass prison ( first solo, sweeping )
4. metallica - fade to black
5. jaco pastorius - slang
BMW Power
I can't decide, there's so many to choose from. The solo from Bad Horsie is pretty mind-blowing, although I also love Comfortably Numb. So much to choose from, I totally can't decide.
If you ask me though, the solo from Freebird is totally overrated. Good, but overrated.

With his galleons and guns
Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls
