The name says it all. I have a chance to get a Honda Civic SiR for free if I can repair it.

What do you mean by twisted? Photos might help...
Are there creases on the floor, the rear panels or the top?
Usually, cars crashed at the front but that have no creases elsewhere are repairable. Cars with creases are usually total losses. Keyword: usually.
BTW, the answer to your question would be always yes, but the cost could be much higher than what you would have to pay for the car in good condition on the market. After all, the cost of a car if you buy the pieces is probably 10X the whole car.

dont do it. It can be repaired but costs an enormous amount of skill and money (xx.000's of $)! Not many people have the skills to do it. The twist has likely happened in a crash. Not visible parts of the car can have been severely damaged without you seeing it. Not worth the effort dude.
To be perfectly honest i would walk right away. If the chassis is twisted, it will cost a forune to repair (if it can be) and would greatly affect handling.
Also, if the chassis is twisted, it might not be just that, some internal parts could alsu be rendered useless.
So, my advice, walk away, i mean i know, free car, great, but this just seems too dodgy.
what if I take the car and sell it for parts. oooh... good idea huh?

If it has working parts, go for it. You could sell undamaged body ppanels, and possibly sell the engine (if it hasnt been damaged)
But if you can make some money off it, thats good
Not an absolute true... Today, it is possible to put a chassis back to it's original shape and give it back it's stiffness. Of course there's limits to this. If it's a car looking like a tie knot, it probably has no more life to give. But most of the times it can be done. There is already enough technology to recover cars that otherwise would be dead. If the car is given to you, probably you should consider having it. What year/model is it? How much does one in good condition cost over there?Originally Posted by drakkie

In any extent it would still require some money to repair the damage and it could end up to be more expensive than what the car is worth originally.
Yup, selling it by parts is probably the smarter idea.

beleive it or not there a specialized bodyshops that can bring back the chassis to manufacturers specs. What they do is that they mount the car on a machiene and using a computer ,they cut rebuilt the chassis from the correct material.I have seen that being done to a crashed audi already.
Then ask a specialist to see the car and to give you an estimate. It's a very recent car. It should be worth the budget.Originally Posted by 6speed

If not. I'll sell it for parts. And get like 10,000!
