to me, drag racing is pointless. worse than nascar. at least nascar turns.

the reaction time element of the whole thing is cool, but unfortunately it is about the only aspect the driver has control of.

My uncle does with his 61 impala, I help him a few times with the car. I might hit the strip with my truck this summer a few times but I usually just drag on the streets

Roll racing is always fun. The old school people like to run from a dig because its all about getting better launching. Plus in drag racing if you make a mistake your screwed in circut racing or oval you have more then 12 seconds to fix your mistake.

Not sure where you get 12 seconds from. You clip a rock on the inside ditch in a forest stage and you are pretty much heading towards the trees with only a FRACTION of a second to decide best option - power, steer, brake, handbrake, kiss-ass-goodbye

Drag is good for the engineering. ( Top fuel that is )
Never really got into it for "street cars" despite a few runs at local !!

In a 12 second 1/4 mile run you cant make your mistake up.

Why does the firebird need a wheelie bar? I dont know it was at the f-body shoot out. I found it on LS1tech.com

Unless you're running a class way below your league or runnig a car way above them then you don't get to make it up again. ) eg Loeb in rallying who has both
I see the point tho if the best driver in the best car normally runs .1s ahead of everyone then in a competition on the day ONE mistake and he can never get that .1s back and goes home empty handed

To us old school muscle car guys, drag racing was fun. Not as technical as rally or road racing but a lot of fun tearing down the 1/4 mile at the wheel of a big block. As I've grown up, I've learned to appreciate and enjoy other types of racing and cars. But I'll always have a blast shooting down the 1/4 mile.
