Definitely the Shelby Cobra. That car was a BEAST. Although if the Corvette is the 427 Corvette then I would change my mind. Although I have a very soft spot for the '70 Chevelle as that was my dad's first car.

Same here. Though the 427 made the car really front heavy, I'd prefer a 396, little less torque but just about as fast.Originally Posted by aNOBLEman

Agreed, add to that the 65 427 Vette for my top 3.Originally Posted by rev440

They didn't make a 65 427 vette, the biggest available engine was the 396 and the 427 ran from 66 to 69.
I'd have to go with the Shelby cobra 427, but if I can I'm going for the original super snake, CSX 3015. The one built for Carroll Shelby himself. It had a twin supercharged 427 and power disc brakes I think from a jaguar. Bill Cosby had one too after making a joke to Carroll saying "If you ever make a 200mph car I'll buy the first one".

OBSESSED is a word the lazy use to describe the DEDICATED!
gotta go with the shelby's. gt500 and cobra fer sure.

the AC cobra gets my vote. that thing was insane. i believe it was the first car ever capable of 0-100 and then back to zero again in a 1/4 mile. next on my list is the 67 GT500. but i guess i just have a soft spot in my heart for shelbies..heh heh. all those cars had their ups n downs i think its nearly impossible to pick which one is best.
My rides:
1999 Mustang GT
1974 Ford Country Squire (for sale!)
1991 Jeep Cherokee
1970 Shelby GT500
Intrigued to see the history on that, do you have any links ? I did a quick google with no luckOriginally Posted by Juggs
I'd have expected the Jags to have done it as they were first with disk brakes.
Getting fast was easy back then, stopping it was the bitch
and is the Cobra a "muscle car" ? It's a sports car surely ???

matra not entirely sure if its even true but i very clearly remember my dad telling me that when i was younger and how that fact amazed him when he was young and those cars were comin out. i'll see if i can dig up some info on it.Originally Posted by Matra et Alpine
and no technically i wouldnt call the cobra a muscle car (nor the corvette) and instead a sports car. but why not include them anyways since their a part of the muscle car era anyways.
