    Hyundai Grandeur

    Overview

Due for showroom launch in July 2005, the new GRANDEUR confidently takes Hyundai into the executive segment. Designed to compete directly against established European competitors in the E-segments, the GRANDEUR offers refinement, high build quality and distinctive European design. Bearing a family resemblance to the 2005 Sonata, the GRANDEUR also benefits from the increased level of sophistication which this car brought to the overall Hyundai product line-up. In terms of exterior styling the company have focused on achieving a harmonic, elegant yet expressively classic ambience.

    Engines & Performance

Performance is guaranteed by the new 3.3 litre all-aluminium DOHC V6 offering 171.4kW (233PS) at 6,000rpm with 304Nm (31kg.m) torque at 3,500rpm. Later a 2.2 litre diesel option with 106.6kW (145PS) will become available. Both cars are equipped with the smooth and sophisticated Hyundai 5-speed electronically control automatic gearbox, with H-matic offering clutchless gear-shifting. In terms of road holding, stability and handling precision, the new GRANDEUR has been the focus of intensive development input. Double wishbone front suspension and redesigned inwheel type multi-link rear have been adopted with ESP as standard on all models. The result is a car which can compete at the highest levels in terms of on-road precision, safety and comfort.

    Interior Design & Equipment

In creating the interior style and design the emphasis has been on providing a modern, distinctive, pleasing and relaxing solidity. Graceful dashboard lines and a clear and sporting design for the instrument panel are aimed at immediate driver appeal with intuitive "feelgood" ambience. The extra space generated by the longer wheel base has been well used to give a more spacious feeling, but one that retains a strong element of connection and sporting appeal. Supportive seats, well planned ergonomics, easy access and high quality trim materials all play a vital role in approaching the target market. As befits a car built to challenge at this level, the GRANDEUR comes with an impressive basic specification. Hyundai is always at the forefront in terms of both active and passive safety features and the sensor controlled full catalogue of benefits is further optimised by the 23 addition of active headrests and front and rear side and curtain airbags. Wind shield de-icing
    is optional.
For all-round well-being, dual zone climate control with air quality control system and a dual colour interior trim, featuring high quality leather with metal and wooden elements, add extra comfort. Precise and direct feeling power steering is complemented by electrically operated tilt and telescopic steering column. A premium sound system featuring Infinity speakers and steering wheel-mounted controls is ergonomically integrated into the dash board. Also the GRANDEUR comes with a full complement of convenience and personal comfort facilities ranging from sunglass storage and cup holders to rear passenger comfort lights and handbag retaining hooks.

    Exterior Design & Dimension

From the outside, LED safety rear lights highlight the purposeful rear treatment while Xenon headlights are an option. At 4895mm long, 1845mm wide and 1490mm high, the new GRANDEUR is 20mm longer and wider, and 70mm higher than the XG. This has allowed an increase of 30mm in the wheelbase which translates directly into more interior space, increased directional stability and extra handling precision. Seventeen-inch alloy wheels
with 235/55 tyres are standard, while the V6 features stylish dual exhaust pipes. The net result is a car which is purposeful and confident. One which matches the stylish exterior with a supremely comfortable interior. It also introduces a new directness in the handling, plus the solid reassuring feel of progressive engineering coupled with exceptional build quality. In short, it is the perfect replacement for the well respected and charismatic XG and one ideally suited to building upon the reputation that its predecessor inspired.
