    Who does body work?

My mom bought a 06 Hyundai Tucson last week. Already she's scraped the ish out of the left rear fender pulling into the garage. The paint from the garage door seems to just be on top of the paint on the car. Some of it just scratched off by hand. She wants me to see if I can fix it before she has to have it professionally done. I told her it wasn't a good idea to let someone with no experience in painting/removing paint try it, but whatever. I have a buffer but would prefer not to use it. It's a piece of crap, and it hurts my wrists. I'd also like to try not to destroy her clear coat.

    Suggestions?

Treat it with care and see how much comes of with gente agitiation with warm soapy liquid

    Then try a gentle wax.

    Then try a soft refinisher.

    Then try t-cut color restorer

    Then try t-cut

Then phone the paint shop and have the whole wing resprayed !!!

Seriously, if you're not comfortable then don't go beyond the thrid step

The paint has a very heavy metallic flake to it. I've never seen a car with as much as this thing.

I was thinking of trying something like a 3M rubbing compound. But I haven't ever used it on anything with a clear coat.

Matra, I'll try those first 3 cause I have no idea what they are after that.

Yea Scratch-X is brand specific to meguiars($15.99 cdn), but there are several products available, i work in the auto department at my retail store. There are also scratch removers from turtle wax and mothers as well. I do belive that scratch-x is the best, you shouldn't have problems with a clear coat when using it but if the problem arises, a clear coat is not difficult to reapply.
