Things are heating up for the Geneva Motorshow, which opens its doors for the media in two weeks time. It does not get much hotter than the all new Porsche 997 Turbo; with 480 bhp, all wheel drive and optional ceramic discs it should be a match for the Italian competition. Lotus announced another addition to the model line-up in the shape of the Exige S packed with a 218 bhp supercharged engine. A star on Renault's Geneva stand will be the lavish Altica Concept.
Elsewhere around the world two new manufacturers took the wraps of two similarly extreme supercars. At the Melbourne Motorshow the Carbontech Redback Spyder was unveiled while in England former McLaren employees gave a sneak preview of the Freestream T1, which promises to be a genuine road racer with a power to weight ratio of over 1000 bhp/tonne.
This past Friday we visited the Retromobile Show in Paris, where an exclusive selection of fine historic cars awaited us. A full report will follow later this week, but as a preview we have included one of the cars present in today's update. Raced only once, in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1994, the Bugatti EB 110 SS Le Mans marqued a very brief return of the fabled marque to racing. In a very rare public appearance outside the Loheac museum, it was the star of the Bugatti club stand.
