    LMS Full-Season Entry List Released

The season-long entry list to the 2006 Le Mans Series has been announced. In total, 48 cars are expected to enter each of the five rounds, starting at Istanbul in early April. However, only 46 cars are able to participate at the Donington round, due to limited pit space. Therefore, a selection will be made in the GT2 entrants to shrink the grid to 46 for that round. The selection will come after the Nurburgring round.

Notable entrants include a privateer Courage LC70 for Swiss Sport. Larbre Competition will campaign an Aston Martin DBR9 in the GT1 category. ORECA also intends to race their Saleen S7R in all five Le Mans Series events. Three Corvettes will be present: two C5-Rs each from PSI and Luc Alphand and one C6.R from PSI. A number of GT2 entrants have also signed up; some of which will not be able to participate in the Donington weekend as stated above.

The Audi R8 can't race this year in ACO sanctioned races. The R10 could appear at some races this year.

Where's my sweet little RS Spyder? I fell in love with it since Laguna Seca.

Like I said in the Le Mans thread, Penske Racing doesn't want to commit to racing in Europe until after winning in 2006 ALMS.

More to the point, 2006 will be a development year for the RS Spyder, running exclusively by the factory backed Penske racing. But I believe their goal is eventually sell the car(like every other Porsche racer) to all the privateer who wants to run it, and hopefully replicate what they do to the GT3 cars....

I can see at that point though the factory will move into LMP1....

Back in 1999, Porsche made a deal with Audi to stay out of LMP1.

Thats 1999, this is now....Porsche will not stay content in building a car that can't win overall in Prototype class(not to say RS Spyder can't it seems to be doing quite well pace wise...). The fact that Porsche now owns stakes in VAG will mean that they don't have to listen to Audi/VW....And who's to say Audi will still be racing in 2008/2009....
