Not knowing the particulars of this incident, one can draw a pair of conclusions:
Either it's a "Fast and Furious" wannabe paying for his own supidity...
Or he's paying for another driver's stupidity

An expensive moment in time either way.

looks like the engine burnt a fair bit

you possibly could fix it. but it wouldnt be cheap. new cooler, engine, bonnet, front bar, radiator... basically a whole new front.

looks like it slid under a large SUV or truck.

I think it's not as bad as it looks. The engine didn't bear the worst of it, the radiator and intercooler did. Probably no structural damage, so the car will most likely be repaired.

someone should revive this car with a racing engine, roll cage, lighter wheels, frp doors, racing buckets, upgraded turbo, and other stuff.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

Too much damage to fix. Repairs and parts always going to cost more than the car even if you fix it youself.

Not really the problem, the person didn't have enough intelligence to keep the speed down on public roads, assuming the driver was at fault.
