    Zeroshift 4 speed demo video

    http://www.zeroshift.com/demovid.htm
I don't know what to say about it. I was expecting it to be a full manual transmission but it looks like semi auto. It does do what it promised changing gears instantly with no loss of power. I want to see some 0-60 times.

I have no idea because in the states there is no TV channel talking about F1. It's all Nascar.
Does anyone know what this companys trading name is. I'm interested in investing in it.

The animation is there too http://www.zeroshift.com/systemanime.htm

Shame they're not really putting much torque through it in the demo.
That's my only concern .... will the bullets survive and how do they wear.
It's a much neater solution for fast change than double layshafts and pre-engagement for sure. Would be nice to see it used in "serious" fashion

We covered this last year http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum...ad.php?t=17707 the demo vid's new thanks

I don't think that is much of a problem and the reason being is that there is no change in G's and there is no kick that you get with your usual auto or manual when changing gears so the bullets should be fine. The transmission seems to transition power smoothly instead of slamming the bullets into the gears.

The point abotu the torque Q, is that those billets are locking the drive. So momentarily they and only they are tramsitting the torque.
So it will always perform neat as it did in the demo with no real push going on..
But unleash the full complement and THEN it might be an issue

There is a change in Gs if the car is accelerating. THem's the laws of physics

Maybe they can make the bullets bigger to compensate if there is a problem of them wearing out quickly. They seem to be going for normal use and racing and if they go for racing applications I'm sure the trannys would be tough enough to take the abuse in racing and if they last in racing, normal day to day use should be more than ok.

I'm sure BMW, Audi, Merc and other European makers are willing to pay top dollar to put this in their cars.

I agree Qb, BUT all I was saying is it's a shame they didnt' demonstrate it "under power"
And until they do the cost of those bullets might be an issue and teh wear especially as on every gear change it overdrives one into disengagement.
I'm not one to assume it will be OK until it's proven to be OK
Why would Audi "pay top dollar" when thay have DSG ?
Only once it's proven and demonstrably able to work as well will it be considered. DSG works because all the components stressed at gear change are big and strong enough

It's now been 3 years since they built this into one of the designers Cerbera .... not seen that car around since

Interesting to see that 'stang is semi auto, I thought one of the big selling points of this is that its a drop in replacement for a manual synchro pack? From what I recall the Cerbera that had it fitted had a manual shift.

As I said in the other thread, the shock loading of the bullets is going to be high. As matra points out the wear on those is likely the weak point of it. There are strategies to reduce it, but maybe overcoming this is whats putting people off.

First vid Ive seen of it in action tho, thanks for the link
