its just the failure isnt due to the vtec system as you implied
if the engine blows, the weakest link was the con rods, piston rings, head gasket, cooling system bla bla bla not the vtec itself

lol that guy sounds like my friend ... he keeps raving on about how he can "feel" the vtec in his 96 accord kick in ... i keep telling him the only vtecs that actually have a performance oriented cam are the ones in the type Rs and type S' ... the sad part is he's an engineer too ... so pathetic considering i'm in business and i know 10x what he does about cars ...
Have you ridden in it? I would have thought that a change to a higher performance cam would create a noticeable responce from the engine.

it would ... if the lift profiles changed by a great amount
but on non type r, s2000, and nsx engines
the vtec lobes used are all geared towards increasing fuel economy decreasing emmissions, and no significant power or torque change can be seen, the low rpm lobes just cracks open one valve a lil while opening the other medium lift for a better swirl and more efficient combustion, the high rpm lobe in these vtecs are more akin to regular cams, as opposed the the afformentioned performance vtecs who's low rpm lobe is a regular cam with the high rpm cam using high lift and more overlap

Hey guys, don't forget that the Acura team with TSXs and RSXs won the touring car championship over here against Audi A4s and BMW 3-series and a bunch others. The last race was the same date as '05 ALMS Laguna Seca, so I was there and was just about 10 feet away from the driver's "victory donuts".

They aren't bad in racing at all.

Honda's are definitely nice cars with some very capable engines and honestly they probably have the best 4 cylinder engines in the world for the price you pay for them. The car is also reliable and is pretty quick. What really ticked my off was the last sentence in

Just because u hate american cars doesn't mean there are no sports cars in america. U proved to be just as ignorant as the creator of this thread, just that ur on the other side of the spectrum.

Ford Mustang, Corvettes, Viper, Monte Carlos (nascar?), Chargers and there are probably a few others and many on the way. And I hope u meant Honda Integra as in the Acura RSX in America because otherwise ur just talking BS. The acura integra type r's aren't that impressive compared to the cars listed above.

Honda does have better handling than most american cars tho and I personally prefer asian or european cars because of the quality factor and are generally sportier and much more fun to drive, all im saying is that u shouldn't undermine or overlook American brands just because they aren't featured in 2F2F or because everyone loves to bash them.

Yep, a Monte Carlo is more like a personal coupe.

And if he's talking about the NASCAR car, then that's a race car.

i own one as a road car (integra)i race one (civic sri) and although they have there fault's i think they are as good if not better than anything else in there class as for the engine's any of the "b" series vtec engine's are as close to a full spec race engine as you can get.eg steel crank, steel rods, forged pistons, balanced,a brillant plenum, and producing 160bhp at 8200rpm,or in type 'r' form 187bhp at 8500rpm and all of that from a 1587cc engine, impressive i think.

1991 DA9 integra, i'm supposed to be able to get 6 grand for it apparently because everything works. But there are a few chips in the paint work
just not worth it to modify it or strip it out or anythign for me.

Honda = nay. Unless it's a K24/20 stuffed into a Caterham Super 7 or similar...
