Any chance of a scan ? Would be nice to see.

    I DID !! honest!

Well mistakenly "altavista" on this machine, it showed no images with fins

Odd "fins" though, they look for racing rather than road use - ie look added on quite clumsily. Every other picture is sans fins eg

Anyone go the background on it ??

now if anything does NOT have fins, it is the Appia Zagato

ah but see Ferrer's input where he indicated it was early cars onlya dn why I'm hopign he can get more info from his book.
Is the image Drakkie found a race special ? a development car ? or a "recreation" of a prototype ( which is why google images with no explanatory text aren't always the best )??

You are all wrong! The Lancia did have fins on the back, and I've got a pic, a crappy one, but a picture nevertheless.

Yes, even the early cars had Zagato's trademark, the double boulbe roof, which was lost on the later cars, which had a plain roof. At that time production at Zagato was pretty much hand-made completely, which means that you could personalise your car to suit your own needs, hence the slight difference between cars that were supposed to be the same.

The pic found by Matra is the protoype Appia GT, which was unveiled at the 1956 Turin Motorshow, and was equally at home in the Mille Miglia (which I presume is where the pic was taken) or at the odd concours d'elegance. However this desing was discarded because it was to fussy and had to many bumbs and humps. Appropiately it was nicknamed camello, which means camel in italian.

thanks for that, btw also the older Zagatos not always have a double bubble, see the blue Maserati A6 in the Villa d'Este slide show...
