Scary? Hmm, I dunno. Anything with spooky children in them, I liked the Ring and although the plot sucked, that boy from the Grudge really freaked me out.
Many classics are good movies (Shining, Omen, Exorcist...) but perhaps not as "scary" as some newer ones. Some of the more recent "scary movies"/thrillers that I actually liked from the top of my head, Blair Witch Project, the Exorcism of Emely Rose, Mothman, the Others. The remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre made me want to look up weather it really happened as the movie suggested (but I never did), White Noise was a dissapointment for me.
Animal horror movies like Arachnophobia, Jaws etc etc just usually make me roll my eyes... but I guess lack of knowledge on the subject could make some of these movies "scary". In my book the only scary about this genre is that it probably occupies about half of my top-10 worst movies ever list. Oh, and the Hostel made a good attempt to make that list as well.
Aaw, that was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid...Originally Posted by Cyco

No, I was referring to the autobiography that will be made when I get much older, recapping the terror I had laid upon the world throughout my life.Originally Posted by IWantAnAudiRS6
The dude its based on is summin Gein, the name escapes me at the moment. The guy had been controlled by him mum since a young age, being told 'all women are evil'. The similarities between film and reality lie only in the house and the bits of people, he actually had all that. He did wear a mask made of victims skin. He didnt use a chainsaw....Originally Posted by Pando
Watch the original. Miles better in my opinion, the camera quality and overall feel to the film give it a whole other level.... in it hes actually a nut-case as opposed to a poor sod with a wierd skin condition.... humanising him takes away some of the fear
