AMD Duron, its pretty good...but it's aging so I'm thinking of getting an Athlon 64.

You need a new motherboard first. A64 is S939 and Duron isn't.

Consider yourself a 3700+ San Diego or X2 4400+ Toledo, or even FX-57. Those are great overclockers..........well.......only if you know how to.

If you know how to overclock, a 3700+ SD will make you happier than ever.

wow what an interesting thread! I have a P4 2GHz but I'm thinking to build a new computer for CATIA V5 R16

I'm shure that for the future 64bit is a must, but I don't know which processor or processors buy. Dual opteron, Dual xeon, Dual core opteron or xeon (very expensive and I don't know if there are 64bit xeons), or a simple pentium D is enough for running Catia reasonably well?

Any experts out there, I have no idea what to choose!

AthlonXP in here, Dual Xeon in work
Cyrix and a couple of Pentiums in the corner.
