That rendering is one of the best looking cars ever. My life goal would be to buy one if it looks like that.

Mmm.. I'd rather an original. That is pretty great though... one thing, a 7 speed double clutch? They're going to make a manual?

still think it's gonna be a automatic, but with double clutch, just like VW/audi's DSG.......

Automatics don't have clutches. MB's 7-speeder is a sequential auto, VAG's DSG is a sequential manual.

Offcourse an Automatic do have a clutch, but you dont operate it........it opperates it self.....how would you then switch gears witout a clutch????

I think the DSG has 2 clutches if memory serves correctly...

I know Porsche's PDK definitely has 2 clutches, and VW's DSG is based on the PDK.

Hehe.. looks like we were both wrong, according to the page after that one there's 4 clutches in an auto box.

On the flip side of the coin, what I meant in my first post there is that MB's 'box is an auto with a manual override, while VAG's 'box is a manual with a computer controlling it.

DSG= Doppel Schalt Getrieb -> Double Shift Device. It has two cluthes. While one gear is activated another one kicks in and has the cluthes work together somehow to make a almost seamless gear change. But still it's an inferior solution to the CVT

I thought the SLR was supposed to be the replacement for the 300SL, not so?

The clutches in an automatic are within the gearbox itself and are part of the gear-changing mechanism. Autos have a torque converter to disengage drive from the drivetrain instead of a clutch.
