If you're interested in a perticular kind of motorsport, learn the history, apply with BBC.Co.Uk. Your kind of writing is more adept to a personal journalist, but who am I to be saying that, I write the same way. It's an enjoyable, easy-to-swollow kind of text-thing, then again maybe it's just the overjoys of being able to gawk at the monitor regularly (read, a minute or so, if I'm unlucky). Just make sure you don't stick a wrench into it. Good luck.

Oh, yes. Looked it up. The fizzy V8 turbo. Now that would be an expressive engine indeed and make my Subie powerplant look awfully tame. The only problem I see with the current Audi range is the placement of the engine ahead of the front axel, though there aren't many complaints about the handling. Anyway, it keeps the overall length of the wheelbase down.

Now, that's the thing. Maybe writing talent and cars go together better in the U.K. than the states. Our top car magazines blatantly pander to America's auto industry. I.E. the Z-06 mops up Lamborghinis and Ferraris and renders Porsche obsolete every time you open the cover of "Road and Track" or "Motor Trend." I really haven't looked at the smaller publications, some of which are quite good, like "Grassroots Motorsport," but I know that a strong journalistic background couldn't hurt. Hence the local newspapers. At any rate, I'll be starting a Master's program in English Literature in the fall that will occupy (and maybe waste) two years and several barrels of cash. It's just a question of butressing ambition with shiny bits of credential and hoping that the whole works doesn't go all house of cards, or as you said, take a wrench of my own device straight into the cogs-n-sprockets.

And, goddamn it, I like America. At least I try to really hard to, against all odds and my better judgment. I sort of want to stay here like the proper brave rats do when the ship hits a reef. But we learn how to live all over again every day, and if opportunity came up overseas, I might pack up and go.

Thanks sincerely for the well-wishing. You've all got me misty.

Mate, I reckon you'd be a great reporter. I have to say, I can imagine much less enjoyable things than reading your dry with destroying people (or owls, whatever the media flavour of the day is) with that great dry wit you seem to have.

I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

Best of luck Quail - I'm in the industry and don't think it's going to be easy. In fact, it's a mission - you'll really have to keep plugging away.

A word of advice- if you want a job in the media writing for a magazine or institution, then I wouldn't do an English Literature degree... you'd be better looking at a course that combines English Language and Media somehow. We have those courses here... maybe now you can move to Britain

i thought evo's weren't allowed in Canada because the front bumper couldn't withstand a 5mph impact
