    Cayman or XK?

what do you think? pretty similar cars, both stunning and both relatively fast. i love the Xk but i think i like the cayman better.

    the XK
    £59,000
    300 BHP
    Top Speed 155 mph
    0-60 mph 5.9 seconds.

    the Cayman
    £36,220.00
    245 bhp
    top speed of 160mph
    0-62mph in 6.1 seconds

performance to money the jag gets smoked (and thats why were not comparing it with the cayman s) but there are other things like interior and aesthetics so some may perfere the XK.

The XK will be a common sight but the Cayman will be EVERYWHERE. The XK has more space, better interior, looks better, sounds better. The XK is made to be more luxurious so of course the performance will be less for the money.

Using your comparison, a Bentley Continental GT is the worst car of the century.

cayman - much better engine and interior i s'pose... clarckson can say what he want but if that jag is made of parts from ford and has an old engine it can't be good in any way

in other words - clarckson like british cars just because he's a brit even though german car are better

The Jag XK, but what do they have in common in order to compare them?

Unfair comparison in my opinion...The cayman is more likely to be compared with the BMW M3 etc...Whereas the Jag is more likely to be compared with the Merc SL, BMW 6-Series etc

Although by all accounts both are very accomplished cars in their own right, I'm not a huge fan of the looks of either car. If I had that kind of money to spend on a sports coupe I'd probably go for a BMW Z4M Coupe. It actually looks worryingly good for a Bangle style car, and has *that* engine.

I agree with the above comments that the cars aren't really well matched. The Jag is in 997 Carrera territory in terms of price and prestige, not the Cayman.

I have to agree, the BMW team have done a superb job with the Z4M, especially the back end, looks mighty fine. Cayman has a real competitor in that car.

i was mostly seeing whether people would take a Jag over a Porsche if there performance was basically the same but the prices different.

I think the XK's lights ruin the car. The headlights look as if Ford designed them, and the tail lights look like they were taken off of a Buick Lucerne and made a bit sleeker. IMO the old XK8 and R's design is timeless, and this new thing does not do them justice. Anyways, this is a bit of a strange comparison, but I would take any Porsche over the XK.
