    Automotive Engineering

As some of you might know, i will be studying this next year at the Hogeschool Rotterdam in Rotterdam. Next school year (starting septmeber) i will (try to) keep summaries of all the things I learn for you to enjoy .

The first things I have to do for this education are quite annoying. On the 7th of july i have o go to Rotterdam and do a diagnostic test of my Maths skills and I have to write a motivational letter of about one a4 page.

So i wanna ask some of you to go through diferrentiating and integrating with me again, since those are my weakest points.I would really aprreciate it

    Cheers,
    S.

Do you have trouble with the theory of it, or recalling it after youve learnt it?

Theres a fair few parts ive learnt over the past 18 months that have been easy enough when the notes are infront of me and everything, although after ive done 2-3 topics and need to study it all again it gets harder

My biggest problem is I don't fully understand it and because of that i make mistakes on the more difficult calculations. I know all the formulas because i have made a list of them for my exams (we could use it). However i had to turn my books in and therefor can't look up the theory and sums (to practice)

Is that both text books and exercise books, or just the latter?

We used a combination of the two.

I have almost finished the motivational letter now,but it needs some fine-tuning. I will have my parents read it critically tonight.

if you want to get your maths skills up to scratch try "Engineering Mathematics" by K.A. Stroud.

Its very good and I've used it when I needed to check lots of maths things!

Ah, the joys of being a designer...

Designer: Here, look at this snazzy piece of kit I've designed!

Engineer: Yes, but what is the integral of the torsional rigidity?

    Designer: F**k off.
    Thanks for all the fish

I've got a very bad engineer joke that could help you (at least it helps me) to remember that the derivative of e^x and the integrated are the same. excuse me if somebody thinks that this joke is too bad.

In a mathematical fuction party everybody is dancing, Cos[x], Sin[x], Log[x]....and suddenly Sin[x] sees that e^x is sitting in a corner apart from the crowd, so she ask him: Come on! integrate to the party!, and e^x aswers: No thanks, anyway It doesn't matter

Engineers have a warped sense of humor. I'll stick with my low brow mechanic jokes if you don't mind.

best way to prepare for a math exam
dont go to class, the 2-3 days before the exam, cram like mad, all the info stays in ur head and you'll do fine

Its makes plenty of sense to me, and I'm neither a designer nor an engineer.
