just some interesting comments made by Auto Motor und Sport recently:
The average age of buyers of a new Mercedes is 54.8 (and going up) In this context it can also be mentioned that the 60-plus generation are the largest buyers of new cars. Of all cars sold in the luxury cars 80% are bought by people over 60.....
That is why Mercedes (Zetsche dixit) will turn its attention more to comfort rather than sport, (leaving that to BMW and Audi) and aim at "long distance driving without any fatigue)....
So expect more Mercedes cars not completely following the fan boy desires, but aimed at the real buyers.
(I also can't help noting here that AMS mentioned in a recent test of the Citroen C5 that it is a relief to drive a car that is not mercilessly orientied towards sporty driving, but thinks about the well being of its inhabitants)

so the guys at mercedes suddenly forgot they work at mercedes after having worked at some shitty korean company for the last ten years, deciding to completely ignore every single goddam mercedes lover in the world by making it least like a mercedes as possible and infact removing all subtleness and sophistication that the last generation had. Well done, assholes.
