the drivetrain of the SLR 722 (478KW SOHC 5.5 Ltr V8 with single supercharger and 3 valves per cylinder + 390mm 8 piston front 360mm 6 piston rear embossed caliper brakes + quad exhaust outlets behind front wheels) in my CLK-500 convertible 4 seater. That would make it more powerful than the CLK DTM AMG Cabrio. And just imagine if that 5.5 ltr V8 went high tech and threw in a few more valves and went dohc! Dam son that would be a massive motha you wouldnt f*ck with!

I would make two seater with very small dimensions. A small midmounted, highrevving, oversquere NA boxer, six or four sylinder. Pushrod suspension. Aluminum body over tubular steel frame. Minimal weight: no heating, servo etc. Similar interior as maserati 250F. bare metall all the way. trunk, bonnet and doors hastened with leather belts and as little electrics as possible. Floorhinged pedals. Something like this

    Your "Dream" car
It doesn't have to be realistic you numb skull.

Better still, I can't see how you could have a "dream" weight for your car

Yes but dream doesn't mean very unrealistic indeed...

The DTM cab has the exact same engine, the SLR has some smaller deatil changes but you could easily get the same power and more from the DTM. Brabus, Kleemann, Carlsonn, DMS etc. could all do it.

Mine would be a mid-engined lightweight supercar. It would have a full roll cage, racing seats with 5 point harnesses anchored to the roll cage, simple dash with tach front and center, aluminum and carbon fiber showing everywhere, a thick rimmed steering wheel, and paddles on the steering column. The chassis would be all carbon fiber using the engine/transmission assembly as a stressed part bolted directly to the chassis. I put an attachment of what the all carbon fiber body would look like. The only assists would be power steering and F1 style traction control.

    The specs:

    Weight: 2000 lbs.
    Engine: TDI 90º V 12 from the Audi R10
Engine Location: Mid , longitudinally mounted
    Displacement: 5.499 liter / 335.6 cu in
Valvetrain: 4 valves / cylinder, DOHC
    Fuel feed: Direct Fuel Injection
    Aspiration: Twin Garrett Turbos
    Gearbox: X-Trac 5 speed Sequential
    Drive: Rear wheel drive
    Power: 650bhp
    Torque: 811ft lbs
Brakes: 15.0 drilled and vented carbon-ceramic discs f, 15.0 drilled and vented carbon ceramic discs r/6 piston calipers f, 6 piston calipers r, fully adjustable brake bias
Suspension: Fully independent double A-arms all-round w/inboard pushrod actuated shocks/springs, Fully adjustable, traction control
    Wheels:18 x 10 custom f, 19 x 13 custom r
    Tires: P275/35ZR-18 87Y f, P345/30ZR-19 98Y r
Steering: rack & pinion, power assist

EDIT: Sorry for the giant pic; my photo editor wouldn't let me resize it.

And that would just be really heavy...
