    Satellite vs. Road Runner

I need some help on figuring out the difference between a 1972 Satellite and a 72 Road Runner. I know what a clone is, but I got really confused today. I am close to buying a 1972 Satellite Road Runner Clone. Does this mean that the cars are pretty much identical and I can swap out stuff to make them one or the other? I looked on ebay and practically every Satellite, is a Road Runner clone, and for the Road Runners, some say Satellite clone. Is a Road Runner just the top of the line Satellite? or the other way around? someone pleassse help.

Clones usually means, a person takes parts from a more desirable car and puts them on the lower car to make it seem like it's the more desirable car.

    Yeah....

you're buying a car which was made to look like the Road Runner of the same... but the underlying car is either a satellite or another less desirable car that was in effect 'modded' for looks, performance, etc... i suggest you do a bit more homework before buying any clone (since you didnt even know what it was)... especially off eBay.

i thought a colne was wen 2 different companies use the same base foe a car. eg ford escape and mazda tribute.
I want to die in my sleep like my Grandma, not screaming like the other 3 people in her car.

There are 10 types of people in this world. People who understand binary and people who don't.

I've never heard that before, when people talk about clones, it's in the same brand, sometimes with the same model of car.

That's exactly what I heard, too...

Such as the VW Sharan, Seat Alhambra and Ford Galaxy.

It's rife in a lot of car companies- the Camaro and Firebird are both the same under the skin, really.

well thats where i got confused with the clone part. A 1972 Plymouth Satellite looks exactly the same as a 1972 RoadRunner(exterior wise). Sort of like A ford crown victoria and a mercury marquis, same deal in this case, but why would people call them clones when they come out of the factory the same? is this the same deal as the Pontiac GTO being the top of line model of the Pontiac tempest?

There was a Satellite Hemi... and a Road Runner 440... so I'm pretty stuck here.

And why would you consider either of these two? The '69 Road Runner is where it's at- a paragon of beauty and the pure essence of muscle car.

Check it's not a lemon first...

From 1970 onwards was the downward spiral of engines strangled by emissions piping and catalytic converters. Evil.

If someone rebuilt the motor, the first they'd do is take that stuff off.
Emission testing isn't needed for old cars except in a few states.
