I guess they are priced ridiculosly... which will for sure make the ricers start sticking CF stickers (similar to the used on dashboards) on their rims. Can wait to see that!

um. is there a reason why the wheel isnt completely made of carbon fiber?
Coming soon to a Vauxhal Nova near you.
I don't know the exact reason, but I guess that structural reasons dictate the choice of magnesium over carbon. Maybe there would be a compromise in structural rigidity, thus safety.Originally Posted by teatako
Also manufacturing reasons. In order to maximise rigidity, each spoke must be made individually (direction of the carbon fiber weave). It would be too complex and costly to manufacture all these parts
Just guessing here...
i actually know someone who has a set of CF rims on their silvia, i can't remember which bit was actually CF though

It would also be interesting to know how they join the carbon fiber and magnesium.Originally Posted by teatako

Now, the question is, can they make nice looking wheels like this?

but for now... at least we have the rims

or... you could use smaller rims with bigger sidewalls and save several thousand dollars with no loss of performance besides limiting brake size
You'd lose steering response from the taller sidewalls like that thoughOriginally Posted by Bob

.. how'd they bond the mag part with the cf part ??
