Also if we are all running at the same event we can carry spares that fit all the cars. Would love a late model car but the funds are pretty tight until the shack( moneypit) up the river is finished. We have enough spares to slot a 3s into the car when I find one and the 3s conversion into a rolla is pretty straight forward. Hopefully being NA it would be the gearbox munching, tyre killing thing like the turbo's and the maintanence costs will be managable

If money was no object, I would build and IS200 Lexus with a beams 3sge,6 speed, big brakes, tyres, would be an absolute weapon and would look horn as an IPRA car
G'day John, it makes perfect sense to to another Corolla, I have a bit of a soft sport for them too, always liked the coupes (just like Michael Sukahars purple one)...had a look at your link to the nephews cars, they truly look impressive. What impressed me most was the build quality, the interior paint work, wiring etc...some guys do not take enough care on such issues, and it blemishes the finished product.
Mate, please in future do not joke about building a MAGNA....it could spoil a beautiful friendship ....and what was it, we could be "blapped by a Magna"
Your idea of the Lexus IS200 is sound, I think you could run the Altezza?...I've seen one on the road here in Brissie..they would make a very compact package....350-400hp and a good suspension package, would make people sit up and look
On the Silvia issue, if you pm nissan19, that's Brett, the owner of the car...whom I should welcome to UCP ...another IP guy, had a Datsun 180B SSS coupe before this project, he's another guy bitten by the bug

Mate, that white car is a really pretty little car, and quite a weapon too I'll bet. The new signage is the ducks' guts too

Got the car today and Im one happy chappy , it has a brand new adjustable panard, new rx7 series 2 brakes, new adjustable front suspension, new adjustable cambertops, new front sway bar designed to clear the 4age harmonic balancer. Has 4 brand new 48r tyres and a half decent ste of 32r tyres, its running rx7 series 2 alloys and they look all right. The interior is good. Its a lot better than I thought it would be. The body is a bit sad, gonna repiant it mercury silver with matt black grille surrounds and trim with coopers sinage like the nephews cars. Will post some more pics tommorrow as the pics Ive taken cant be accessed as the sd card has shit itself

Heres the logbook photo's, logbooked stamped with new owner and the colouyr I'll paint it.

    Is that finding the apex

It will definetley be slowly, slowly. The sad bit is when the nephews race we hardy get anyone to watch them and they can drive a bit. Every man and dog I know reckons their coming out to see my first race, like I need that pressure. Even a few guys that race in IPRA said their not entering, as they want to see it from stands They all came down to the workshop yesterday and where reving myself and older brother about the nerves in form up and how you cant really remeber your first race as your mind is spinning a million miles an hour.

i don't know about anyone else but i remember my first race like it was yesterday (15 year's of circuit racing) i finished dead last my knee's were so weak after the race i couldn't get out of the car for about 5 min but i loved it
ithough i must have looked like a real tool but about 15 min after the race a group of guy's from the club came over had a talk about how well i went i said i came last they said at least you finished and the car's good to go for the next race.
the next race i passed three car's on the first lap i fininshed 12th out of 25
since then it's been like a drug i hope it'll be the same for you just do you'r best in you'r own time don't let freind's or peer's presure you in to going out there and being the fastest car in the feild

I know what you mean, I used to race motorcross, enduro's in my younger days and the first race was an enduro and I remember the first special stage like yesterday. Also at the end of the day it was a 6 hr enduro 3hrs before lunch, 3 hrs after I could barley load the bike on the trailer. I raced for 4 years and had a ball, now Im getting back into it now. Will definetley be racing for myself and no one else, not to fussed where I come as long as I have fun.

Any how heres some pics from today, we put some 17 in wheels from the nephews street car on the car. Found out too under the crap that was in the car is a brand new radiator and oil cooler. We are painting the car white now with purpley stripes the same as the colour as the brothers car. That way they will be the opposite like the nephews cars and whites a much easier colour to paint and repair.

Just finished burning the DVD's,will send them monday, once the post office is open.

    Cheers
    John

So far I have stripped the brakes, diff, master cylinder, Ive ordered new shocks for the rear, nothing fancy just Pedders, its a leaf sprung rear end remember, no point chucking Konis on it. Removed all fuel lines pumps, filters etc. Going all new lines throughout..

    After Christmas/New Year hopefully

1/ Fabricate and mig weld engine adaptor plate for 4age

2/ Strip engine bay of all wiring, fuel/brakelines etc, spray with spray putty, then paint white.

3/ Strip interior of all wiring looms, battery box etc, spray with spray putty and paint white.Install race seat, seat belts, window net, brake bias adjuster oil pressure/temp,water temp guage, refit VDO tach into dash, shift light etc.

4/ Strip boot of all wiring, surge tank and fuel pump, spray with spray putty and paint white( theres a theme her) reinstall surge, fuel pump etc, also additional bracing for the panhard rod.

5/Convert 4age water inlets/outlets to RWD configuration, remove dizzy(running crank angle sensor)

7/Install engine and g/box/clutch etc, have new tail shaft made to length and balanced

8/(Nephew) Rewire whole car and run all wiring in convoluted tubing, install Aurtronic SM2 in passanger footwell in a 400x400 electrical box with fan.

9/ Take engine to Alan Engineering at Mallala for fitment of autronic etc, hopefully dyno engine, the car will be corner weighted and Adam Allan will then do some laps round Mallala to see where the set up has to go.

10/ Prep outside shell for paint, need new/secondhand trims round front and rear lights rear lights.

11/ Get race suit, helmet, gloves etc. Install sick bags in car,so I have some where to vomit (from nerves my nephews tell me) in form up

11/ hit the track and not the walls.

This is Johns half arsed approach to car building also I probably have forgotten a million things that will crop up. Sounds really easy
