The Xti doesnt start delivery until christmas time, and theres no way its $400 less, the body only D80 is $900 and the body only XTi is $800. You're probably comparing two different packages.

if you go XTi, dont get the kit, get the body and a different lens, maybe the 17-85 IS or something, im not sure how much those are though... just a sec

so really for two comperable SLR's (Nikon having a few more things, and two dials) and two comperable lenses (although the Canon has IS) you come out about the same... $1,300 or so
