I think we should have a national day of mourning. He was so passionate about wild life, even after all his success and money (even though he put most of his money into his zoo and 2 charitiy progams) he was still down to earth. His energey and quotes will be missed.

Crikey.....RIP Steve Irwin.
That is fantastically unlucky
ah well, they'll be crocodiles in heaven to wrestle with.

He was worshiped by people who wish they were crocodile wrestling Aussies everywhere.
Well I'm sure that's how he would've wanted to go...
I've always had a soft spot for the guy, and its a real shame. I believe he's also got two young children, so it'll be hard for them too. He was a great person, a bit of a nutter it has to be said, but he loved what he did and that's great.

That is sad news to me..
As a guy who also love wildlife on sea and land, I have been a fan since the first program I saw him..
When I saw it now in the news I hoped it was just a scam, as last time someone set out roumers about him beeing dead..
But it seems this time he is gone.. He will be missed..
My thoughts to his children and wife..
when that is said, I'm glad he died doing the thing he loved, and not in a car accident or something else..
Those where my first thought exactly... All the best to his family. He wasn't very known over here although I did watch the show now and then. I'll miss it for sure...Originally Posted by LotusLocost

R.I.P Steve Irwin. People like Steve Irwin make life worth living. He was such a great person to watch on T.V. Many people did feel happy when they were watching Steve's television shows or at least Steve entertained many people and he made a significant contribution to wildlife and nature in general. I hope Steve Irwin is in Heaven now... wrestling crocodiles and aligators. Steve will be sadly missed.
Yeah 2ndclasscitizen ... Thankfully, Russel Crowe and Mel Gibson are not Australians.Originally Posted by 2ndclasscitizen
Belongs in the same boat as Russell Crowe (not actually Aussies!)

I class them as Australians. I think you can't be raised fully into a country schooled with our values our ways etc and be classed as from overseas. Just because you were born somewhere else but tort a different way.Originally Posted by john14
Both made there names as Aussie guys. And whilst Russel seems to class himself as a Aussie that was born in NZ. Mel looks at it differently. I'm a American that grew up in Australia.
