    Speed on the Tweed 2006

Some pictures from the annual Speed on the Tweed festival held in the northern New South Wales town of Murwillumbah Sep 15-17. The event is basically an Historic and invited cars event, celebrating Australian motoring racing history, but it is inclusive rather than exclusive. Most of the pictures posted are of Australian designed and built cars, as the historic scene is much bigger in Europe and the US it seemed better to show cars people from those places might not have seen. The first cars is the Matich SR4 sports racing car, powered by the Repco engine.

The Matich SR3, this car ran very briefly in the Can-Am series in the US. The single-seater is an Elfin MR 8 F5000 car, this car also ran in the Can-Am in the 80s with full body work.

Now for the non-Aussie cars. Chevron B24/28 F5000 car, watching the driver driving very gingerly across a sodden paddock area was amusing (for the spectators, not for him I imagine)

great pic there BH, had a fix of motorsport today as well at mallala for the Fujitsu series, Adam Macrow(ex IPRA Racer ) dominated proceedings. Historics were great, sideways through the kink . IPRA boys put on a good show as well.

They had an XU1,the Motorola VX(?) Holden Commodore supercar, one of the day-glo Commodore VK Grp C, the M-HDT L34 (which stalled and couldn't be restarted and had the ignominy of being towed around the track behind a Ford F250 ) and also the Brock/Manuel Reuter Holden Commodore VP in Mobil colours. Daz no worries with the corrections, I am not an expert on those cars by any means, constructive criticism is welcome
The track itself is VERY TIGHT..to stop people getting too carried away with themselves, so speeds are not high. The ex-Brock Chevrolet Monza was there too, despite slicks, wings and 600 plus of Chevrolets finest, it was about 17th overall behind a few BDA Escorts etc.
Will have some more pics later in the week, had trouble downloading from the camera, included will be mostly static shots.
