    Spied: BMW 3 Series Cabrio

Spy photographers caught some very clear photos of the forthcoming 2008 BMW 3-Series convertible (E93) today. The car is visible with the less disguise than ever before, and we now have a very clear good of how the finished product will look on the road. Some camo remains on the taillights and side windows.

As one would expect, it will be powered by the same engines as the coupe, and equipped with a retractable steel roof that folds completely into the trunk. Rumors over the past several months have indicated an M3 convertible might not be offered due to weight issues with the roof. The current convertible will continue to be built until the end of this year, with an expected total of 270,000 units built and sold. The new 3-series convertible will hit European showrooms in March 2007, and reach America shortly afterwards.

Too bad they made a hardtop, now it looks like one of those hairdresser CCs. A softtop would be lighter too which is good for driving it.

well comparing it to mercedes isn't fair as all their retractable hard tops are 2 seaters, this is more in line with the pontiac g6, vw Eos and volvo c70, and i think it is more handsome and desirable than any of these. In fact, when i look to trade in my volvo s40 this summer, this looks like a great practical and all seasons sports car for me to consider.

I like that, personally. It looks well-proportioned and not heinously ugly, unlike a lot of BMWs of late.

This bodes well for the next M3

I prefer the looks of softops. But praticality and safety issues sent the market in the way of CC's. And you can't deny those arguments.
About the weight you might not have a point there. Mazda converted the mx-5 to a CC with a weight hike of only 30kgs. Insignificant if you ask me.
And only who has a soft-top knows the fear of parking it in a dark street at night.

    Someone got it!

What I think is great about this car, is that they were the only manufacturer to convert a coupé into a CC without changing the looks.

Yeah, I like the look of it too. As previous members said, they didn't change much of the proportions, which really helps because the 350Z convertible looks really ugly. And, it'll be slightly more rigid than a softop of the same product.

its gonna grow on me. i can tell you that right now haha. does anybody know if that b pillar is real or is it just painted on a window as a disguise, because if it remains, that will definitely mess up the look of the car

Looks like tape. I can't remember the last time I saw a convertible with a B-pillar that big!

Don't forget that with the roof and windows down, a convertible has an entirely pillarless look...

Another car I am not sure about. I really liked the old BMW 3-Series' (pre Bangle) but I thought that their cabrios always looked like ass. I am still deciding about this new-new 3-Series; it looks better than the last model but maybe not as good as the pre-Bangle ones. Anyways, at least this time BMW didn't make a cockup of the cabrio as this looks pretty good.

I'm actually a bmw lover most of the time

the hard top version just looks less executive than the old 3-series soft top did. Which looked better than the mercedes rival. This doesnt.

dont know how thats being biased.
