    engine weight

    hi.
    just wondering.
in the middle of the light V8 engine battle
    powertec macroblock V8 2.6L
    http://www.powertecracing.com/v8_index.php

    and the RST V8
    http://www.rst-v8.com/

it makes me wonder if someone just slam one of those mazda rotaries and win? does anyone know how much a typical 2 rotor rotary engine weigh?

    which one,

in mazda there have been a series of wankel engine 12b 13c 13j 20b
all of which might not be two rotor or as light as these.
the ideal competing engine with these however would be a four rotor(like 26b) or a three rotor(like 13b), since two rotor engine doesnt have enough cc's to compete with these.

    Google it.
The lack of power and reliability would offset the great weight advantage(if any).

The hp to size/weight ratio is similar, I think this battle comes down to raw displacement.

mazda only made four rotary's10A 12A 13B 20B (1000CC 1200cc 1300cc 2000cc)the first 3 are 2 rotar the 20B is a three rotar all all of them wiegh between 60 to 100 kg the 13B is the most common and is capable in turbo form of making 450 to 500 hp the 20B is rarer but is more powerfull again inturbo form will make 500hp plus but the mother of all roraries is the engine mazda developed for it's le man's 767b sportscar being a 4 rotar turbo making 700hp so they claim anyway it won le man's 24 hour race it's other good thing about rotaries is there size the engine is very compact
