Is this the point where someone posts the picture of the crash where we can see flesh and whatnot flying in the air?
Please refrain from doing so.Originally Posted by :Exige:

I think it´s a great gesture by bmw to honor such a great driver!

Both da Matta and Richard Hammond have returned home from hospital and are continuing their recoveries there. Hammond is reportedly in negotiations for a £1million book deal to tell his story and is looking to get back to working on Top Gear in the New Year after he's back to full strength.Originally Posted by magracer
It remains to be seen whether da Matta will ever make it back to competitive racing. His brain injuries were more serious to start with than Hammond's, needing emergency surgery, and often people never quite recover 100% after such serious injuries. And obviously getting behind the wheel of a worldclass racing car is a lot more "serious" and intense than pissing about on an airfield for a TV show, a team boss is unlikely to put him into a race seat again if there are even the slightest doubts over his recovery from that type of injury. Also da Matta is no spring chicken at 33 years old, it's doubtful whether he'll have the heart to battle back to full fitness and to risk putting his neck on the line again after such a scary moment. Best of luck to him though, it would be one hell of a comeback if he makes it back to top-tier racing again.

Alex Zanardi, role-model, hero and all-round good guy.
Certainly one of my favorite racedrivers not to have won an F1 championship.
Mr. Zanardi, I salute you.
