9ff seems to be a tuned Porsche so it doesn't qualify as a production car.Originally Posted by 2ndclasscitizen

Whoa! you need to correct me first...notice that the Avanti was as fast as the Daytona!Originally Posted by derekthetree

Plus, the 9ff had taped panel gaps and such.Originally Posted by sunk
9ff is considered a manufacturer, just like Brabus (holders of the record for the fastest production sedan - CLS Rocket) Gemballa, CSV here in Australia and quite a few others.Originally Posted by sunk

Why is 928 in the list? It is slower than the earlier AM Zagato.

Does 9ff even meet the emmission norms? Remember, there is no RUF CTR yellowbird on this list....how do you distinguish a tuned car from a production one?Originally Posted by 2ndclasscitizen
If I put new seats and a new audio-system in a CCR or a Veyron, will it qualify as a tuned car or a production one?

Just one of the things that utterly confused me. 928 set the FIA speed(from Wikipeda) record but the AMZagato was verified by a mag. Now which one do I trust?Originally Posted by henk4

Right, forgot about that.Originally Posted by sunk
Depends on what emission norms you mean. They are different everywhere.Originally Posted by sunkOn this list yes. I believe RUF is also considered a manufacturer.Originally Posted by sunk
It's a title handed out by relevant governing bodies in countries (in the case of a lot of the Porsche tuners, the German TUV.) The big thing is that these companies sell a car model (i.e you can go buy a RUF CTR, Gemballa Avalanche etc.) as well as just general tuning, whilst a tuner will just tune your car, sell you upgrades etc. If you own a RUF CTR, it's a RUF, not a Porsche.Originally Posted by sunk

But, where the argument for 9ff goes astray is the fact that, in the record run, panel gaps were taped up and wing-mirrors were non-existant. That would definitely not qualify as a production car.Originally Posted by 2ndclasscitizen
Oh and I forgot. That topspeed run for the Macca was sans rev limiter.

But it's not as though they're major modifications. Anyone with a roll of gaff and a screwdriver could do it.Originally Posted by Rockefella

Well, obviously. But, I'm 99.9% certain that a car without side-mirrors is illegal to drive on roads, making it's record well, unofficial.Originally Posted by 2ndclasscitizen
