Asuming both are the current models, I'd take the RS4. It's got a manual gearbox, it looks better, it's almost as fast,... do it I need to continue?

    An Avant for me.

The M5 is now offered with a 6-speed Manual.

    BMW M5 for the win!

    507hp V10 > 415hp V8
    520Nm > 430Nm
    7 speed SMG > 6 speed manual
    4.6s to 60 > 4.8s to 60

Plus I think the M5 look better.
Power, whether measured as HP, PS, or KW is what accelerates cars and gets it up to top speed. Power also determines how far you take a wall when you hit it
    Engine torque is an illusion.
