As a God surely you should know the 8C is in fact available for purchase, as it has been made into a production model.Originally Posted by -What-

How about a Peugeot 207 GTi Twin Supercharged, Quad Turbocharged 14litre W16 3dr Hatch?
Looked like fun...

IIRC the price of the Alfa Romeo will be 134.000 € before taxes.

The Porsche 911 was launched in 1963. How on earth can it still be the 2006 COTY? (and don't let there be a clever one who comes up with the prewar Alfa 8Cs )

Ah, but the 997 didn't come out in 1963

Then couldn't you say that the "basic design" of the 8C came out in 1948?Originally Posted by henk4

Wasn't the 8C more or less built to "pay homage" to it? So the "basic design" would be the same?
The basic design of the internal combustion engine is over 100 years old, but it'll still power the COTY - doesn't make the Sinclair C5 any better!

In short no. Many Alfa Romeos before that one have been front engined and rear wheel drive, and for intance there were the prewar 8C with straight eight engines of various capcities has a more similar name. The new 8C might be a bit of a retro pastiche but it's not related to any previous Alfa Romeo, in fact it's not related to any Alfa Romeo at all, it's a Maserati in drag.Originally Posted by The_Canuck
The Porsche 911 carries the same filosophy since the sixties original, altough it was completely new with the 996 (that one beared no mechanical relation to the previous 911s).
