Urgent Help for Website building in Joomla

I'm currently building a website using Joomla, and here is a problem that i'm encounting and was wondering if you know what to do.

I have two menu, one is a horizontaly placed Top Menu, and another one is on the left side call Main Menu.

What i want to do is that when i click a menu item from the Top menu, a list of sub menus would show up in the main menu.

Would you happen to know how to do that?

    Cheers Guys

You would have to do it using Javascript or some CSS hack, unless you want to use frames (which you don't, because you will be hunted down with a pitchfork by a mob of developers ).

Search 'Javascript Menus' into Google. There are quite a few on the web that are free, as long as you give the creator credit at the bottom of your site. It'll take a while to find the one you want ... you might have to fiddle with the Javascript a little to get it working. Not as hard as it sounds though.

Alternatively you can do it like http://www.tekheads.co.uk/ who have a seperate page for each icon. When you press the icon at the top, it loads a brand new page with the icons in the menu to the left.

ie. If you click an icon called 'Sheep' in 'index.htm', that is hyperlinked to 'sheep.htm'. 'Sheep.htm' is identical to 'Index.htm' except the bar on the left now has icons in such as 'Sheep ears', 'Lambs', 'Gay Sheep Porn' etc etc.

    -----

Nowadays the defacto is XHTML 1.0 Strict linked to a CSS2 file which handles all of the styles. HTML/XHTML is only used to store the data to be displayed ... the CSS is used to show the layout or template. If you ever plan on getting serious with websites, CSS and XHTML 1.0 Strict are what you should definitely learn ... once you understand them you'll realise that programs like Joomla, Dreamweaver and Frontpage put in so much unneccesary code and just writing it into Notepad is far more efficient.

    Good luck with your site.

I want to contact you about Joomla but the site won't let me send a PM. How can I get in touch with you?

I need urgent help with a Joomla project - I'm prepared to pay for your time. I'm in Sussex too.

If you're still around and might be interested, please let me know how I can contact you.
    Thanks,
    Ben

Just do all the above mentioned in Flash 5 minutes and you have a proper working and good looking menu. Then start adding content and within a week you have got a proper website. It is just so much easier than html and any other stuff i used so far.

    Mine will soon go online
