BTW, in your custom user title: "Chevy" is spelt wrong. YOU lose.

Still gave the pic a 10/10 in the "Rate my avatar" thread.

As clutch monkey said Cheby and Chebby are slang for Chevy. It's usually used by Mexicans and black folks, even rednecks.

the "sh" sound in Chevy doesn't exist in the spanish language, hence their tendency to pronounce it like the letter "ch" of their alphabet.
He came dancing across the water
    With his galleons and guns
    Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
    On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls

Although when you consider the average intelligence of people using that type of slang, and the lives they lead the true "losers" are revealed. (There's no point in replacing the 'V' with a 'B', it doesn't even shorten the word)

In the UK we don't get an influx of either Chevrolet's (unless it's Daewoos that are rebadged when they come of the boat) or the lower end of the mexican population, and the nearest thing we have to rednecks and the "gangsta" types are chavs. Therefore I've only heard Chevrolets called "Chevys".

It's nothing to do with intelligence, it's to do with language. As has been mentioned the "Cheby" slang comes mainly from the Hispanic communities in the US. In Spanish the letter "V" is pronounced as a soft "b" sound. Eg the city Valencia is pronounced "Balenthia" etc. It makes perfect sense for them to call a Chevy a "Cheby".

So why, according to baddabang, do "rednecks and 'black folks'", as he puts it use it too? The majority of them aren't Spanish speakers.

It's possible that they're too dumb to know the difference.
