I'd rather take the saloon. The tail of the wagon is just aweful. Audi on the other hand is the better choice.
the whole estate thing is apparently a UK thing. I agree that the M5 touring is a biy ugly but it will still sellOriginally Posted by Merrill

You're mainly right. In south Europe saloons have the upper hand on estates, altough that trend is slowly reversing. I personally think that some estates are a better looking than their saloon counterparts, like the Audi A6 for instance.Originally Posted by jediali

If the concept behind the M5 is to have a family car with the performance and handling levels of a very special sports car, than the Touring makes total sense. That same family might welcome the extra space.
With all respect for your great car, there's no possible comparison. They are different concepts and offer different kinds of pleasure.Originally Posted by LandQuail

That really does take the fun out of it. As I said, I'm stuck between this and the A6 wagon.

I love the idea of the BMW E60 M5 Touring wagon. I would love a wagon with great power and performance since I had to drive my Dad's former '97 Korean Hyundai Lantra "Sports Wagon" which only had enough power to tow 5 or 6 lemmings.

Not so. The original superestate (BMW M5 Touring) came out in 1992, which beat the Audi RS2 by 2 years, that's 15 years ago.Originally Posted by MRR

I would take the Touring over the saloon any day. But it's still second to the RS4/S6/RS6 Avant's in my book.

Interesting. I mean I knew there was powerful estate cars but I had no idea BMW made one so long ago.Originally Posted by Ferrer

I think the M5 Touring is cool. Although I'd prefer own a RS4 Avant.
