Although, on the surface, it looks fairly similar to last year's car, the bright orange machine is, in fact, a considerable departure from the Toyota-powered Midland M16, being the first car to bear the imprint of former Renault and Toyota star designer Mike Gascoyne and with the team having made the switch to Ferrari powerplants.

On the driving front, Christijan Albers has been retained while, alongside him, will be grand prix debutant and Japanese F3 champion Adrian Sutil. The Dutch outfit will be running as many as four test drivers over the course of the year, in the shape of former World Series by Renault ace Markus Winkelhock, GP2 star Adrian Valles, Malaysian A1GP pilot Fairuz Fauzy and, more controversially, F3 Euroseries frontrunner Giedo van der Garde. The former pairing will act as test and development drivers, with the latter duo fulfilling the role of test and Friday drivers.

Last year, Spyker F1 finished in tenth position in the constructors' championship, having acquired the Midland operation at Monza, with a best result of ninth for Tiago Monteiro in the Hungarian Grand Prix.

It looks very McLaren-esque
