What difference is there between a boxer and a flat V?Originally Posted by henk4
IIRC, a boxer doesnt share crankpins with the opposing cylinders, whilst flat engines do.
On the left is a Boxer, on the right a Flat V

Ah! And thank you (once again) for info GT-HO :cheers:Originally Posted by fpv_gtho

We bought our first one for the dealership from Subaru UK this week, early impressions -
Very efficient. Rumors of just over 50mpg out of a 2.0.
I found it very quiet, alot quiter than equivelent Audi/VW competitors.
Legacy looks nice with the TMIC scoop (Due to it being a Turbocharged engine).
bear in mind the B8 A4 2.0tdi now uses common rail, apparently refinement is much improved. no doubt a great debut diesel though.

True.
Apparently around 60% of customers coming in are now asking about Diesel.
Apparently it manages to keep the petrol boxer burble too, true or false?

Only heard the 2.0 Legacy up close... and i'd say basically, bollocks (EDIT : To soundling like a Petrol burble). Sounds like a well erm... diesel?
To be fair, I hear burble's all the time.. so i've probably got used to it. But it sounded a very "clean" diesel sounds if you get what i mean... Not rickety in any way as the video shows.

What is sure is that this new engine will increase Subaru's sales dramatically in Europe.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
Visca Catalunya!
Without a doubt. And when it (eventually) hits the Outback and Impreza, sales will go up.
