Honda Civic, nissan sentra, toyota corolla, they seem like they go for ever. I got my sentra for 400 bucks, I'm sure you could find one out there for a similar price.

Uh, an old Toyota, or Civic. The Japanese ones are more reliable than American on average if I'm not mistaken. Like johnnynumfiv said!

Definitely go Japanese. You can't beat the reliability to price factor. I don't trust American at all, especially Sunfires/Cavaliers. Everyone I know has one, and everyone I know who has one has numerous issues with them.
i was waiting on a moment, but the moment never came. all the billion other moments, were just slipping all away. i must have been tripping, we're just slipping all away. just ego tripping.

I agree aswell. Japanese cars dont really need to be serviced much, they are more fuel efficient, and are cheaper. How ever, dont trust Mitsubishi. They're considered 'dangerous' in Japan. The older ones, up to the '01 models seem to have problems with the seatbelt, airbag, transmission, and also the brakes.. If you ever go to Japan, you'll see that Mitsubishi is almost 'extinct'.

Suzuki has some really cheap cars. I own a 10 y/o Alto which barely costs me more than fuel (15€ insurance+taxes a month). It does about 1 litre on 17 km with a heavy right foot

I'd take the S-10!! purely because it is a Chevrolet and it is a pickup truck, pickups are cool! Plus I'm sure, when you have the money, there must be some decent mods for them too!

I have a Swift and I have to say that they really are cheap, reliable and economic cars.

For a more balenced posts, here is the worst thing about them: Parts. A local fool smashed his into a kerb and managed to bend the hub, giving it it wicked positive camber yo' (on one side). Anyway, a new hub cost £400 + £100 for fitting. He could have bought my car for that, I would have sold it to him too.
