Diesel for the weekdays, petrol for the weekends.
It's horses for courses. There is no 'right' answer.

Depends.
If it's my current situation, then a Skôda Fabia vRS with chip treatment for 185bhp and 228lb/ft of torque.
If it's when I'm older and richer, then it'll be an MTM-manualised RS6. Simple
i agree on that one
Well ultimately thats tricky. In autocar one of the journos couldnt decide so for the same budget bought a cheap weekday car (he got a pug 107) and a sports car (an ariel atom - not the biggest engine) therefore going to extreme ends of the spectrum. Logic would say that there isnt one car for all. It isnt the fabia for starters!

As practicle, reliable, economic and yet still fun everyday cars go the Fabia is high up the list.
Somone at college has fitted a sports exhaust to a Pug 306 D-turbo and it sounds like a monster, far nicer than the farting noises made by every single souped up Corsa/Fiesta and it was comparitively flying along too.
I'm all for a diesel as an only car, infact its very likely that my next car will be a diesel. The power:insurence ratio isn't something that can be ignored at my age and lack of NCB either.
PPC - Put a V8 in it!

Not fun enough for you??
Fred- do you really think I could a) afford the car b) afford the insurance c) actually be interested in it?
Same goes for the Audi R10 TDi. As much as I love Audi and Peugeot... just ****ing no!
