the human mind is so complex, this sort of thing really makes you wonder about what the other 83 percent of our brain can do that we dont even use...

When you look somewhere else after staring at it, you get a flash of green ring. Very cool.

I thought we use only around 5%.....

Then again, we all have different capabilities. I most certanly fall into the 5% category

It's the cones in the eye that become affected by the lights.
So you "burn-in" the red and blue cones with the lights.
So when you then look at anythign else the only cones still able to react fully are the green ones. So you "see" a green image because even though red and blue colurs are falling on your eyes and the cones, the red and blue cones arent' able to "fire" as effectively because fo the "burn-in".

    All physiology, not psychology.

Nice exxmple to demonstrate it and will forward to friends to use in class

Contary to the popular myth, you use 100% of you brain.

Like any part of your body if its not used it will atrophy to the minium size nessesay.

This entirely indepandant of if you extract the most of what you have.......

Well more accurately, the "myth" is a distortion of the physiology.
IN conscious thought and actions the brain only fires 20% of the available neurons.
What this really means is always up for debate, but when you consider we dont' fully understand memory then it's fair to say most of it is for that and of course you woudlnt want 100% of your memories "appearing" every tien you ahd a thought
The gneral way the only uyse 20% is used is toi explore how much more we coudl achieve if we COULD utilise 100% of our neuron synapses in conscious thought on a single subject !!

Muscles and organs atrophy. THe brain is a nervous system which is actually constantly carrygin electrical energy. It's more normal dystroiphy that affects them and not from "lack of use" but from some fault or damage.
