    That's exactly what they do for this particular car. Platforms and parts sharing is the future if GM wants to survive. That said, cars don't need to be exactly the same.

    So that leaves me with one question, why isn't it re badged as a Vauxhall for the UK market ?

    They aren't and they need to do it in order to survive. But if only cars looked different from each other...

    EDIT Or if the same car was sold with the same badge in all marekts.

    Acctually I can't came up with many more companies doing this, it would be Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus but apart from them I can't really see any company that sells exactly the same cars just with different badges today.
    One classic exampel is BMC, and everybody knows what happened to them... Badge engineering at it's best, or?

    Many do, from Fiat, to Volkswagen, Ford or Renault. The difference is that the cars actually look different from each other.
